2020 - The Year of the Community

Stop Your Small Thinking

Here it is January 1st, 2020. As a very young person I never expected that I would ever see and be alive at this date not even in dreams. I thought being in my sixties would be prehistoric! Well here I sit in front of my AMD / Microsoft Windows powered PC putting down thoughts into text and visualizing with graphics, many from PowerPoint. I am 76 but don't mentally feel that way. In fact technology has opened my mind and I am thinking thoughts that I never thought I would think many years back. Which brings up what this blog is all about. It's the need to quit thinking small thoughts and have some about larger things. All of those thoughts should be about your well being and security.

2020 brings with it some really mind expanding possibilities. In the back of my mind I can hear the never ending encroachment of the SGSM and it fuels my thoughts and makes me develop plans. It may also be all those Cosmic Rays bombarding my brain and causing neurons to combine in never ending chains of new thoughts. This year will be the year of the community here on our little farm. I suspect with the needed planning and work by people in the community that we could easily feed 400 people or a bit more than 100 families. To start we will have a huge surplus of food which will go into a community bank account once it is sold. This money will be used to upgrade needed things like low tunnels, shade and frost cloth. We will be planning to grow all year long even in freezing weather. Starts will be grown in the greenhouse. The greenhouse will produce microgreens 24/7 all year long.

The small garden will be a Ruth Stout one (look it up on YouTube). No fertilizers will be used or needed. The trees on the farm this year have produced a huge amount of leaf matter, and our two horses and chickens will provide other needs in the garden. My neighbor who trains and teaches riding horses as well as providing a place for people to ride and house their horses brings a huge trailer load of horse poo and high quality hay to the farm every two weeks. It's almost endless and will be used to reform the landscape of our little farm.

I am slowly collecting solar panels and wind generators which will eventually become part of lighting and power around the farm. This power will also be used to pump water from a well that we are planning at the moment.

That is the dream for this year, and I already have a commitment by one family to come work and share with us. That should be your dream as well. There are all types of communities which can be big or small. The earth is just waiting for you to arrive and nourish it. The result of that will be that it will reward you with life nourishing food that is untouched by anything that we use in our store bought foods. It will be the food of life and not some nutrient hollowed out excuse for food.

The year 2020 is a good time to start. The fact that you may be reading my blog points out that you could probably be just the right person to start a small community.

If you live in a small town, then try for a city wide community. You could really be surprised how many would want to be a part of that and think about all the new friends you would end up with.

All the best from Central Texas. It's the first day of the new year, and my mind is being flooded with new thoughts and possibilities (choices). I hope you are feeling the same.
