Where and Where Not to Live

The world has always been a dangerous place to live, and some places more dangerous than others. With the coming SGSM and global cooling and other geomagnetic happenings, it will become even more dangerous. The most dangerous things are of course the cooling and the planet becoming a very cold place to live along with the coming magnetic field reduction of the earth. This reduction is rapidly accelerating and we will probably see a magnetic pole flip eventually.

The problem is what happens when this happens. For modern man, it's the technology we rely on. The problem is it's all electronic. For those who don't know a semiconductor from a semi truck, let me explain. All transistors and semiconductors, integrated circuits and the memory in your computer are all made up of very fragile devices.

These are mostly made up of very very thin gates that operate from perhaps 3 to 5 volts at most. They draw very little power. The gates that make up these devices are easily damaged by a high voltage spike that can puncture through the gate. At that point the gate or device draws a lot of power and can essentially burn up. At that point the semiconductors in the device no longer work properly, A huge voltage spike can cause fires and other problems. Many of these IC semiconductor devices have up to millions of transistors and gates as part of say a computer CPU (Central Processor Unit). All of our modern computers, hand held devices etc. contain at least 1 CPU.

So why am I speaking about the SGSM, a magnetic pole flip of the earths magnetic field and a Microprocessor, CPU, transistors and semiconductors in the same breath?

The reason, is that this period we are living now is experiencing a weakening of the earth's magnetic field. It has been reduced by 20% already and is weakening by the day.
The earth's magnetic fields are our shield's up (like in Star Trek) and protect the earth from Galactic Cosmic Rays, and any large and powerful geomagnetic storms like the Carrington Event. The  Carrington Even was a large geomagnetic storm that hit the earth and would have destroyed any electronics if they had existed at the time (1859). So what does that have to do with now.

In the last few years there have been many examples of much smaller geomagnetic storms and events having caused problem here on earth and in our electrical grid. These events have come from minor plasma / magnetic events and even from Coronal Hole events that have damaged parts of our electrical grids like transformers and equipment connected to the grid.

So as the earth magnetic field slowly decreases toward a pole flip, and the sun slowly cools and its primer field magnetic fields cancel each other out, the earth becomes even more exposed. Eventually just some small minor event could eventually take down the world's electrical system.

It is suggested that if we lost our electrical grid here in the US, that the population of the US would be reduced by 90% in a year.

It will happen and sooner than later. We have been very lucky the past few years for this not to  have happened.

So what are we looking at in the coming years?

Just for starters, we are looking at a cooling and cold planet

This cooling is something we cannot do anything about or stop. It is not people caused and has nothing to do about people. Along with this cooling earth are all the things that go with it. These are things that people are not doing anything about.

In the top picture I think I have place one of the best of the suggestions besides preparing for what is coming. Things like food, water, security, warm clothing, growing your own food and so on. This blog and my book is full of things and ways to prepare. That suggestion is:

Live in areas that will become green and
have long enough summers to grow crops during the SGSM.

I have a lot of blogs on this, so go and consider what I have written. In this coming colder icy times, some places on this earth that were very dry and desert like will become green oasis like. Here food will grow and once again be good places to live and grow food. That is why my suggestion of living below Latitude 35 degrees. The growing zones because of this will shift south in the US.

Back in Roman Times, North Africa, Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia had a mild climate within a few miles of the Mediterranean and was the bread basket of Rome. This area runs from about 30 to 35 degree latitude. This area will once again become important as most of Europe goes off line food wise. There is speculation that the EU wants an army so they can control this growing zone.

Worst Cases:

  • Weakened magnetic field of the earth allows a minor CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) to take down the global power grid.
  • The sun slowly weakens and goes into a low glow mode and we go into and icy cold part of our present Ice Age.
  • The present Super Grand Solar Minimum lasts for the next 35 years.
  • The present Super Grand Solar Minimum lasts for the next 35 years made worse by stupid geoengineering and an increase in Galactic Cosmic Rays and a huge increase in clouds.
  • All the above three bullet points made worse by a global financial meltdown.
and

Global nuclear war which kicks us into an icy cold ice age and nothing will matter and the above bullet points are meaningless.

So what can you do about any of this? It really deals with survival. If you don't think that I am mad and a bit off center for writing this, then you will probably do something but what?

Here is what I would do, but that just me. This is not political, legal or medical advice, so go to another blog if there is one for that.

  • Move to below latitude 35 degrees.
  • Have a migration plan
  • Have a Bug Out plan
  • Purchase a truck and a large Toy RV and keep your survival food and other thing in the back.
  • Choose a place where you might live
  • Develop a like minded community
  • Move your family south and stay north where you have a job and income.
  • Purchase while you can some good warm clothing, shoes and other types of clothing
  • Purchase and store long term food
  • Educate yourself and monitor closely what is happening politically, financially and climate wise.
  • Associate with like minded people
Well so much for this blog. I have won the battle with those crappy, lazy Central Texas climate / weather gods for now, but they are always trying to trip me up. Below are some microgreens I am getting ready to harvest. I can remotely turn off and on lights and heating if I want.  This works really well, and I also get natural sunlight through the plastic.

So if you are reading my blog, get ready and eat loads of turkey, ham or any other things as next Thanksgiving things may be  considerable more expensive. Hug all those who you love, and at your Thanksgiving table give everyone a chance to say what they are thankful for.

Here are my really good recommendations:
Prepare (cheaper now than later)
Get 7 years of seeds (and some for others)
Start your own or a community garden (grow thousands of pounds of food)
Join, start or contemplate being part of a community (you could be a leader)
Take care of your family and neighbors (especially the older ones like me LOL)
Look after those that have less than you. (they are all over the place)

Cheers and best of every thing to all my readers.
Dennis

Thanksgiving 2019

I cried because I had no shoes until I met a man that had no feet!

Here is my Thanksgiving List: I am thankful for the following:

My Family.
When it was hot I was cool.
When I was cold I was warm.
When I was hungry I had food.
When it rained I had a roof over my head.
When I was sick there were hospitals and doctors.
I have a soft bed to sleep in.
I have good health.
I have good eye sight.
I have a wife who is worth a kings ransom and the glittery of diamonds and gold fails in comparison to equal her brilliance and quality.
For the USA and Texas where I live.
For a God who told me He loved me when I was 7

Yes 2019 has been a strange year. Now everyone had it as good as I did, and indeed there were and have been some rough times, especially for farmers. Not just here in the states but all over the world. There are a lot of people struggling out there who are unemployed or just making it. Wages have not gone up, but every thing costs more. If you live in a comfortable home, have enough food and can pay your bills you should be grateful.

So I won't go into all the SGSM madness that is stalking our planet this blog.

Remember to feed and take care of those who have less than you

Happy Thanksgiving from Central Texas

The Big Flip

How long does it take to go from global warming to global cooling?
How long does it take to go from a warm period in our present Ice Age to a cold icy one?

If you have read my blog then you know that we now live in and the earth is part of an Ice Age Epoch for around the last 2 million years.

This Epoch or time period is called the Pleistocene Epoch. It is possible that this present period will last millions of more years.

During the Pleistocene Epoch, there have been short periods of interglacial (between glaciers) warming like we have just experienced.

The normal Pleistocene climate though is a cold icy one and usually have lasted for 85% or more of the time between interglacial warming and cooling.

Statements:

  • Human caused CO2 and global warming will destroy the earth and people
  • We are looking at global cooling, global crop failures and a coming Pleistocene icy and cold period.
  • Pollution is killing this beautiful world we live in and on.
The human caused Global Warming, CO2 progression.

Progression 1 - Human caused CO2 and global warming will destroy the earth and people.
Progression 2 - While global warming exists, it will cause all kinds of problems that will probably not kill us all.
Progression 3 - With all the melting, we have freshened the oceans and have caused a great cooling period.

Progression 1 and 2 are absolute garbage and only reflect an agenda to tax and control people. Progression 2 and 3 will be needed as an answer when it gets so cold the IPCC needs other excuses for their agenda.  The reality of our previous now ending warming period is that it has allow our present population to grow to its plus seven billion population. It has been a warm and wonderful period of great advances and ways of producing food, energy and housing for those seven billion plus people. Great scientific advances have occurred during this period. GLOBAL WARMING HAS BEEN A BLESSING TO MANKIND.

Progression 3 would be and could be true if the earth was truly warming. This is the warming safety switch that gets turned on when things get too warm. Ice sheets slide into the ocean and cool and it reduces the salinity of the oceans. Our global warming conveyor belts breaks down and Europe freezes. While all the above is true, that is not what is happening. We are not warming anymore.

The Global Cooling progression.

Progression 1 - We are looking at global cooling, global crop failures and a coming Pleistocene icy and cold period.

You have seen the graphic below many many times and you may get tired of it, but it really is the big picture and the elephant in the room.

Looking at the graphic, on the far right is the period that we have just lived through. Notice that there has been few temperature spikes during this nice warm period and also notice how abruptly things can change.

So how quickly can we slide into the periods of icy cold? If you go out on the internet and look up that question they will probably tell you thousands of years.

AND

What they are really talking about is Chicago being under a mile of ice

AND

What they do talk about is how long before Chicago is a mile under ice as the earth starts cooling. That mile of ice must have a start and it starts with cooling. That is probably what we are seeing now. When this starts, seasons will get shorter and you will see many of the climate changes we are seeing today. Crop growing areas will no longer be useful to grow crops, and the earth will slowly cool and we will see huge amounts of food not grown any more. Yep and over time Chicago will again be covered by ice.

BUT

And here is the thing to worry about. It is possible for an icy and cool abrupt change into really cold times if our sun actually goes into a low glow mode. As above, it will be a slow progression, but at some critical point, the sun will finally run into weak plasma streams, currents and sources that don't support the sun as we see it now. The sun at that point will have a huge reduction of energy output and the earth cools abruptly.

NOTE: all those BLUE dips in the above ice core data did not happen when the sun was acting normal. All that blue is caused by a very cool and cold sun.

So to answer the questions:

How long does it take to go from global warming to global cooling?

Answer 1- It already has started.

How long does it take to go from a warm period in our present Ice Age to a cold icy one?

Answer 1 - It already has started

Answer 2 - We have about 20 years or perhaps less of relatively cool and cold climate then the sun's switch get thrown.

Answer 3 - It take thousands of years to cover Chicago in a mile of ice.

Then there is this:

Pollution is killing this beautiful world we live in and on.

Progression 1 - There is no place on this planet that you can not find plastic and human garbage. There is little on no pure drinking water anymore. We have been the worst kind of guest on this planet. We breathe the air, drink the water and grow in this planet's soil and we are killing it all.

Our wonderful planet is being treated like one great commodity where it is sliced and diced in to little pieces and sold. If this is kept up, we will end up with a barren place that is frozen solid where nothing grows and there will be no one left to even care.

Humans are being treated the same way as the earth. Human life is cheap.

Here is a great headline:

'War On Terror' Has Killed Over 801,000 People & Cost $6.4 Trillion: New Study

Above headline from Zero Hedge at this URL

Ya human death is a commodity as well. Guess who received those trillions of dollars? Death, destruction, human slavery and you my friend are just a commodity and have a dollar sign on your forehead. Other that that you are just useless unless you can be used.

OK enough for this blog all you free range slaves out there. It has been warmer here in Central Texas but I am battling weather gods in my greenhouse as I expand the cold weather growing areas. Up your nose (with a rubber hose) as my sons often often said weather gods.

Thanks for reading my blog. Again I say:

Here are my really good recommendations:
Prepare (cheaper now than later)
Get 7 years of seeds (and some for others)
Start your own or a community garden (grow thousands of pounds of food)
Join, start or contemplate being part of a community (you could be a leader)
Take care of your family and neighbors (especially the older ones like me LOL)
Look after those that have less than you. (they are all over the place)

Cheers and best of every thing to all my readers.

Solar Man - The Start of the Trip

Purely Fiction? - Part 8 of ? A continuing Story
Part one is at this URL  Part two is at this URL
Part three is at this URL Part four is at this URL
Part five is at this URL Part six is at this URL
Part seven is at this URL

I would start driving in the evening and would drive all night. I did not like driving at night, but felt safer than making the trip during the day. One of the things I had spent a large amount of money on was night vision equipment. Not that I would drive with no lights, but I could see what was happening if I had to pull off the road. It is amazing what an advantage night vision offers if you are hiding or must move around at night.

The trip would use many back roads and I would not be using interstate or state highways except for a couple of places. The reason for that was that there was starting to be a lot of military and state police traffic on the major roads lately.

One of the things I had noticed was a large amount of those large road construction concrete blocks being strategically placed around Austin and on Interstate 10. It certainly looked like they were setting up so they could block off roads quickly. I certainly didn’t want to be prevented from getting to my family. I just hoped that my plans were in the end not necessary and my trip would be flawless.

I suspect that in the coming months as things got crazy, movement would not be allowed here in the states. Only infrastructure items like food, fuel, medical and emergency vehicles would be moving. The roads would be owned by the military and local law enforcement as it would all go back to the shutting down of migration. You would probably need a permit to use the State and Interstate roads. I thought about that for a minute and concluded that yes, I was migrating. That thought created a funny feeling as I had never thought of myself as someone who would be labeled as such.

Just thinking about vehicle movement started a thought chain that would not stop. The thought was that we had better get everything that was important now before movement was restricted. Eventually when everything finally broke down, it would all start over. There would be no way to stop people in their search for food and a safer place to live. It would be a chaos cake with chaos icing. Being in law enforcement during these times would not be something I would choose to do.

It was Friday and my family now knew that I would be leaving the farm at 7:00 PM Sunday. I had all day Friday to get everything all buttoned up and the van and the trailer parked in front or the house.  Our gate had an auto close function, so I would lock up the back of the house, open the gate with the gate opener, and toss the opener into the paper box I had put an extra set of keys and other things in. Then go out the front and lock the door, get in my van and exit the farm before the gate automatically closed. Sounds kind of weird I thought but it will work. Saturday was reserved for sleeping and most of Sunday morning was reserved for thinking.

Friday turned into Saturday and Saturday turned into Sunday evening. I had been walking the floor and just when I thought things were going too smoothly, I got a text alert. From the text message I was sure that anyone who had a cell phone got the same message. The text was from FEMA and read that the President would be making an important announcement early Monday morning around 11:30 AM EST. The message would be for the whole country. That finally did it for me and I decided that another hour would not make much different, so I pulled the trigger. Finally I thought I am making my escape.

My little plan worked as I stopped on the road outside the gate and watched it slowly close to the farm. At that moment a deep depression swept and over whelmed me and I broke down and cried as hard as I have ever cried. All the good and wonderful things that I experienced there were being swept away by the cool icy winds of the Super Grand Solar Minimum and things would never be the same.

Wiping my wet red eyes with my shirt sleeve, I turned on the van lights, put the transmission in drive and slowly drove off not wanting to look back. Some place in my mind where all my past life memories are stored a door closed. The key to that door would have to wait to be used in better times as I had new things to do and I was going to do them well.

The Coming Destruction of our Global Food Growing Systems

It looks like winter started about a month or more earlier that normal. Not only are records for the month (end of October start of November) being broke, but some records are being broken that have never been recorded even into the deepest parts of winter. In Canada and the US, some crops are still laid out in the field and covered by snow. Some crops will never be harvested in places in Europe and in the US. Some vegetables like potatoes will just rot in wet muddy conditions.

What has been happening is not something that I would have thought would happen. It's the ramp up speed of the SGSM that is startling. What is happening now is something I thought would happen perhaps one or two years in the future. Perhaps all the many records being broken are just a fluke or a one off? I think in the coming months we will see if that is the case. Obviously if things get worse as in more ice, cold, snow, rain, hail and broken records, them we may be seeing something worse than a 400 year cooling cycle.

What may be happening is what I have been blogging about. It's the coming destruction of our Global food growing systems.  It's a perfect storm of many things that that can add up and cause severe climate explosions. I listed them in my last blog. They were:

  • Reduction in the Solar Wind and an increase in Galactic Cosmic Rays.
  • Professor Valentina Zharkova's 400 year cycle.
  • Magnetic pole flip of the earth's magnetic field.
One other item that is not discussed much and that is the effect of coronal holes and the terrestrial atmospheric temperature (cooling).

What is a Coronal Hole. Look here at this URL for a detailed explanation.

Things cool off when there are more corona holes. There still is much research going on about these holes. When we have large corona holes facing the earth, the solar wind increases.

This (solar wind) in combination with Cosmic Rays may cause even more cloud creation which add to the Albedo effect.

During Grand Solar Minimums, sunspots decrease and we have an increase of coronal holes. Perhaps this is why we are starting to see and is causing all the unprecedented cooling and records being broken. Additionally we are seeing the earths magnetic field become weaker and our magnetic poles move culminating in a possible pole flip. As I have said, we are living in interesting times, and living through conditions that modern man has need seen or experienced.

Fun and Games? Probably Not!

Climate Crisis - Not CO2 caused

Yes finally I see that we are using the term Climate Crisis. It was just a matter of time.
Below are some headlines I found at places like Electroverse, and Zero Hedge and other places around the web. They are all out there, but don't show up in your day-to-day browsing.

  • Millions of acres canola buried in Canada: New drought hits California: Fears of more flooding in England: More Australian bush fires and snow in the Arabian Gulf
  • Wisconsin Losing Two Farms A Day The Latest Sign Of Hard Times On The Horizon As 'Global Crop Loss Map' Keeps Growing
  • Are You Ready For A Catastrophically Cold Winter? Here's What The Mainstream Media Won't Tell You...
  • As Winter Storm Arrives, Chaos Unfolds At Chicago O'Hare As Passenger Jet Slides Off Runway
  • Heavy early season snowfall paralyzes Southeast France - 330,000+ homes left with no power.
  • More record gains for Greenland's Ice Sheet
  • Extreme cold weather alert issued in Toronto as multiple all-time low temperature records fall
  • Century-old record cold ravages Indianapolis
  • Sweden suffers it's biggest November snowstorms in at least 40 years
  • Arctic conditions grip the United States which rewrite the record books
  • Multiple key roads blocked in Algeria following heavy snow fall
  • Severe -30C (-22F) snow storm to strike part of Europe
  • UK Snow update - Heavy snowfall bury's parts of Wales, Central England and Scotland
Before I end this blog I would like to again bring up what may be coming. Over and over I have brought up community.

NO NOT SOME 60's HIPPIE COMPOUND or COMMUNE. Nothing like Jones Town or some religious cult. Anything like this would last in the microseconds area when things enter into cold and bad times.

A community should be more like a tribe or a brotherhood. Everyone watches each others back. Everyone shares resources. That is why I am writing my perhaps cheesy book "Solar Man".

The world is on the brink of some really bad times. Things are just holding on by a short thin thread. The coming cooling and the SGSM will eventually break that thread and then all the other threads like finance, and the almost demonic hate going on in our political system will come crashing down. I would not like to be a politician now when things come crashing down. Even if this political madness stopped today, the SGSM will eventually crash the system. Hungry, starving, homeless and screwed over people are unhappy people. It may take a while for our brainless society to realize that they never have been in control but controlled and they have been robbed of everything that should be dear to them.

And the reality of this is that only the community (tribe) will be capable of surviving all this. Even in a well connected and managed community it will be tough. It's always been that way. Even those in a community can be your enemy. The really sorrowful part of all this is that the pure, weak, old, and meek will be the first to not survive.

OK enough from Boomer Doomer Dennis

Here in Central Texas the weather forecasts are calling for sunny days, but the high altitude clouds are saying something else. It's probably those Central Texas weather / climate gods messing up things.

My wife is turning into the cookie monster. This happens every year as there will be stacks of cookies in cookie tins. Hmm lets see, the mailman (woman!!), trash collection people, the hair dresser, all the restaurant manager that I sell microgreens to and then there is our family and friends.

There is enough sugar, chocolate, nuts and other things in the kitchen to kill 300 diabetic people like me.
The weather gods wont get any though. and if Elijah shows up there will be a large container for him.

Thank You for reading my blog

A Window to The Super Grand Solar Minimum

Things are getting crazy here on this pretty blue marble of a planet. Seems that few are looking at the beauty and wonder of it. Few even care. Even fewer care about the planet's climate. Few if any ever think we even live on a planet. Ya you live on earth dude, and it could be a most wonderful place but us humans in our astounding stupidity have managed to mess it up.

I suspect that many of our young people could not even name three planets and know that our sun is a plasma star. That we live in a solar system that resides on one of the arms of a galaxy we call the Milky Way.

If you have never visited my blog then you will quickly realize that I march to a different drummer and think thoughts that only a few people have thought or are thinking about. My blog consumes me and so do my thoughts. Those thoughts are about a world where there is less food and eventually less people. I am consumed about why this is so and how it will play out.

My interest in this is not some morbid curiosity,
but a true concern to wake people up and their security.

So how does one track what the Super Grand Solar Minimum will bring? Well in a bit, you could read how I plan to track what is happening in the next piece of my fictional book "Solar Man" but I will not make you wait.

Methods to my Madness:

  • Track Food prices
  • Track fuel prices
  • Track electrical prices
Track fuel oil (our friends up north)
  • Track Radio and TV stations
  • Track websites like Steve Quayle and Zero Hedge and others
  • Check out my blog from time-to-time.
  • Visit and follow on YouTube
    • The Ice Age Farmer
    •  David DuByne's Adapt 2030 and others
    • The Wales Grand Solar Minimum channel
  • Get your Ham Radio Licence and some equipment
  • Get a Skype account and make some friends
  • Watch our insane political system here in the states and around the world through the talking heads in the main stream media
  • Listen to your friends and neighbors and what people are talking about.
There could be more, but that's your job.

Track Food price

This is an easy one. Get a piece of paper. On the top of the paper put the following.

Item, Date, price and comments. Just like the picture on the left. Make out three pieces of paper at a minimum. One for say corn, peas, green beans, black beans and canned meat. Also a loaf of bread
and a box of your favorite cereal. Corn meal and flour also come to mind. you could add multiple things on each page, but you get the idea. You don't even have to purchase these thing, just record the information. Do this every two weeks or so. What you have created is an inflation monitor except the inflation will reflect the growing and harvest conditions by monitoring price. Do this for the next two years. What are your observations? What are some of your comments and observations? Strike up a conversation with some one purchasing the items, how full were the shelf's, and so on. If you have friends in other states have them do the same. This is an easy one unless you are really lazy, then you are probably not reading this and if you are, click the big X at the top right of the browser page.

Track fuel prices

Another one for the lazy types. Just keep your receipt every time you get gas for your car or truck. This one is perhaps not as reflective of crop failures (perhaps corn), as the price can reflects political turmoil and the need for greedy people to jack up prices.

Track electrical prices and Track fuel oil (our friends up north)

Easy again, just keep all the tons of paper that come with your bills on these items

Track Radio and TV stations - I like this one but requires Internet Service

Get a map of the US and Canada or the World and pick out cities that will reflect what is taking place locally. Then search for TV or Radio Stations that stream their content or have a website that reports local news and weather. With just a few visits, you can monitor what is happening locally and globally across the world. This will be useful until you loose the internet, but there are solutions to this as well which will be covered as the last item.

Track websites like Steve Quayle and Zero Hedge and others that actually have news about things that are ACTUALLY happening. Forget Drudge as it had become a political hate the president site.

A quick visit to these two site in the morning and in the evening is all that will be required for updates on the political madness and everything else that really matters.

Check out my blog from time-to-time.

Visit often. From time-to-time I will combine all my blogs into one large (as in pages) of all my blogs. In another year that PDF will probably contain 600 pages or more and will be still be growing. There are great to put on your computer or hand out to friends and enemies. Please don't sell them as they are freely given!!

Visit and follow on YouTube:  The Ice Age Farmer, David DuByne's Adapt 2030 and The Wales Grand Solar Minimum channel.

These three and there are more are very useful for following what is happening and you wont have to listen to some garbage about the world burning up and gas exiting cows rear parts. One thing that I like about the Wales Grand Solar Minimum is that they have daily videos which cover the day before. Oops before I forget, you can get email alerts from Electroverse. They are also highly recommended.

Using all the above there is no reason to not be informed.

Get your Ham Radio Licence and some equipment
I have a blog on this. Here is a piece from my book "Solar Man" which I am publishing from time-to-time on this blog.

" Our location was in an elevated area, so with the small tower for our VHF / UHF antenna and base station radio, communications had been checked out to thirty miles using the same equipment I will have in my van. Having all the radio equipment gave me a warm feeling and we would be as connected as possible. No needs for the internet or cell phones.

In the future I was sure that the radio equipment I had purchased and stored up would add greatly to our and the community I hoped to create security. I was thinking about getting a digital system, but didn’t have the time. Once I got to my new home, I could put up my low frequency equipment. Using that, I could monitor Ham Radio communications all over the state and surrounding states. If conditions were good at night, I could monitor traffic and communications as far north as Main and Canada. If I used higher frequencies, I could monitor global communications. My wind up AM / FM radio could be used for really local conditions. It’s fun to be a radio head I thought.

From my new home I would have a picture window of the Super Grand Solar Minimum."

While the above is fiction It is completely true in the reality of it all.

Get a Skype account and make some friends

Skype is a wonderful way to stay connected globally. Just make some friends and then all of you can keep up with what is happening locally. Its real personal and right out of the mouth that you are communicating with. No main stream garbage.

Watch our insane political system here in the states and around the world through the talking heads in the main stream media

Listen to your friends and neighbors and what people are talking about.

Well that's all. I bet you can come up with some tracking SGSM methods as well.

Things are crazy all over the globe climate wise. There are snow and low temperatures records being broken globally. Those lazy crappy Central Texas weather gods are keeping Texas cool. They don't like the sun and they are blocking that out as well, They tried to kill all my microgreens but I was wise to what they were up to.

Dennis

All the equipment in my store is used personally by me or recommended by me.

I have updated and enlarged the Surviving the Super Grand Solar Minimum book. I also have the SGSM book and three others at this URL. They all come in a PDF format.

I am plan to keep the paperback book (older version) which was very popular at Amazon at this URL for a bit longer. Its a great book to pass out.

OK, what have I forgotten?

There is always something and I bet I will remember just when it is needed. Age takes its toll on memory brain cells. Mine seemed to be working OK, but the problem was that I was making the decision and observation. Now I had to finish everything on the week three list. At the end of the week, I would be ready for the trip.

Checking my email and text messages, everything was going well with my family. The base station radio setup had been temporarily setup and they were ready to greet my arrival at the end of the week.

Our location was in an elevated area, so with the small tower for our VHF / UHF antenna and base station radio, communications had been checked out to thirty miles using the same equipment I will have in my van.

From my new home I would have a picture window of the Super Grand Solar Minimum.  I would be very remote but well plugged into the system.

Never in my eight year old Ham Radio mind would I have ever thoughts the thoughts I was thinking now 68 years later.

My electronics goes back to being eight years old. I was a model airplane nut of the worst kind which eventually let to the radio controlled types. That's when I started building my own receivers and transmitters and servo systems. I never turned back from electronics and Ham Radio was my next step and Guglielmo Marconi became my hero. Then on to other things like radar and radio communications and eventually an interest in radio astronomy.

My coming trip was planned for Sunday. The reason for that was that there would be less traffic. There would be one final cell and email communication and that would be that everything was OK and I was headed their way soon and the exact date and time. They would have to go into the city to receive that last communication.

The List

  • Put the CB some place in the van where I can grab it. Also the magnetic antenna mount.
  • Pack the freeze dried food in the van one day before the departure
  • Pack up the trailer two days before departure
  • Make sure the batteries and the gas were well stored and secured
  • Make a small trip with the trailer connected to the van
  • Be completely ready of the Sunday evening departure
  • Dump house keys into box and be sure to lock up the house
  • Nap and sleep all day if possible before starting the trip
  • Leave lights on so it looks like someone is home
  • Make sure I have drinking water for the trip. Snacks too
  • Make one last visit to one of my trusted neighbors, and thank him for looking out for the farm until the new owners arrive.
  • Purchase any food I could at the local grocery store and put in the trailer using any cash I had left over.
  • Check all the local radio stations for any bad local news or news that would cause problems with my trip.

I had no TV or cable as we hadn’t had that for years as there was nothing but garbage and senseless trash to be seen. To get around living in the country, we finally invested in a cell tower router. I would take that with me, but it would be useless where I was going.

In the last week things were getting noisy around the farm. The police and the sheriff’s department were completely overloaded and people were taking their security in to their own hands. I could hear gun shots throughout the night. Strangers were walking up and down our really out of the way road during the day. I slept with my pistol next to me and slept lightly as our dog George who owned the farm and was our alarm system went with my family. I was all alone and it didn’t feel good. The radio stations were recommending that people stay home at night. Talk radio was full of comments about food prices and shortages as well as all the crazy people on the streets. I was so glad that I didn’t live in a subdivision, apartment or in the city. Still our farm was not really far enough away from the city. As I slept at night I often thought I might have waited too long to head for my new home.

The problem had been the farm sale and the need for money that had kept me here longer than I wanted. I really felt that the country had a minimum of six more months of what you could remotely call stability. The coming 2021 / 2022 winter would be the clincher as our power infrastructure would probably fail and there would be few crops harvested. At the end we decided not to close out our bank account and pay for the coming expenses with my debit card which would be really large. I went to paperless on my bank account.

In addition to the Super Grand Solar Minimum, there had been a huge uptick in volcanic eruptions. Many of these Vulcanian type eruption were violent and ejected large amounts of ash and gas. The problem was that the ash and gas was injected into the upper atmosphere where it circled the globe and caused more cooling. The Katla volcano  and others in Iceland were acting up which could cause real problems in Europe.

Now I though all we need is a couple of large earthquakes. The New Madrid Seismic Zone and the Cascadia Subduction Zone came to my mind. In the back of my mind I was telling myself that thing were progressing at a much faster rate than I had thought they would. Was the cooling not a 400 year cycle but something much longer and more energetic?

It was now time to pack my van with the freeze dried food that I had stored in our barn. The van could not hold all the food, and I had to put two large boxes in what I thought would be spare room in the trailer. The trailer was already packed and covered so more rearranging. The batteries, solar panels and extra fuel were tucked away safely. The fuel was in the back so I could get to it and safely away from me and my precious freeze dried food. I tried as best as I could to balance out the trailer so there not a large load was on the back of my van.

Going out to the greenhouse, I looked around until I found a timer I had used to turn on and off nutrient pumps. This I brought back to the house and would use to turn on and off a light so it looked like there was activity after I was gone. I really had many fond memories growing in my greenhouse, but my new solar one would be even more fun. It was fashioned after greenhouses that were used in China. Actually, I thought that this one was no longer mine.

One of the main problems with any greenhouse is cooling and warming. Standard types that did that efficiently would take huge amounts of power in the Super Grand Solar Minimum. The Chinese solar greenhouse was much more efficient and required little or no power. At our location, ours would even use the earth and water for warming and cooling. There was even a place to grow mushrooms.

The property we had selected was especially selected to build our earth home and solar greenhouse. It had to have a rising elevation of at least 20 feet, have at a minimum a seventy five foot wide crest and run east and west for about 300 feet. We were building on the south side and would use shipping containers in series for the actual part of the house. My oldest son who was a mechanical guru at most anything had come up with the design. The south side would have a slopping design that would allow the sun in during the winter and we could close it off during the night or during very cold periods. We would also grow in this part. My wife was looking at miniature fruit trees. Some of the water like for baths would be used for the indoor growing. All the welding and cutting equipment would be powered by our gas powered generator. I was looking forward to getting there as I could be another helping hand even if an old one. We also had an old reliable Yanmar diesel tractor that didn’t use any electronics or a computer. All the excavation equipment would have to be rented. Connecting three large shipping containers was not going to be easy. We had picked out three of them that had been used to transport food so they were insulated. My son had actually added more in the design.

There was one more thing I wanted in the design, and it would be a radio and communications room that could also be used for observation. This would be on the far left side of the house and overlooked the road that led up to our home.

It was to be my window to the Super Grand Solar Minimum. Then there were the chickens and other animals to worry about.

Finally I had received my shipment notice of my freeze dried food and if I could just get it here it would be mine. The FedEx trip would take four days of all went well. I could just see in my mind someone hijacking the truck and my food.

I made a list. I hate lists. I wish that my wife had been here as she was the list queen. I never got away with anything around here. I never missed an appointment and always was handed a piece of paper when I was out shopping. Just thinking about her made me laugh.  Well it was my turn and I had to make two lists. There were two lists to be made, which were week two and a Trip List. Week one had already passed. I looked around and found a black pen. Just the thing I need to check off things as they were finished. If my wife were here she would be laughing as I have never been a list sort of person. My laughter rolled around the almost empty house. As I checked the news and texted some of my global friends, I quickly learned that things in Asia and in the UK and EU were going downhill. Things had been bad enough in 2019, but that was two years ago and the SGSM was slowly doubling its intensity every year. A chilly vibration went down my spine as I had the feeling that loads of things could go wrong in two weeks.

The List
·         Pay power company - give them info where to send final bill - get money to Mace
·         Give a forwarding address to the post office. That would be Maces address.
·         Communicate with realtor. Power - Propane information.
·         Write up information on how to transfer propane tank and gas for new owners - see above
·         Get a box to store things that the new owners would need. Keys, extra gate opener etc.
·         Start cleaning out the refrigerator. - note - thaw out shrimp!
·         Start packing my suitcase
·         Purchase a large supply of batteries
·         Purchase an all in one solar battery charger / USB /LED Light
·         Charge up my two cheap  Chinese UHF radios.
·         Put the UHF magnetic mount car antenna in the van.
·         Have the oil changed in the van and make sure the coolant levels are good.
·         Keep taking out 300 dollars of cash every day from the local ATM.
·         Note: close out bank account at the end of week two.
·         Pick up the twenty 12 volt / 100 watt solar panels and the five 500 AH 12 volt batteries. Bring cash.
·         Crap that is enough!!

Not on the list was my freeze dried food. Of all the things that I had to do, the food was the most worrisome thing on my mind. While there was ample food at our new home, the freeze dried food would be our backup. Hopefully we would never eat it, but it was our backup if things did not work out.

A trip to the power company finished up one item on my list. I paid our monthly bill and gave my friend Mace's address as the place to send the final bill. I enjoyed doing that as the power company during hot summers and cold winters had kept me a poor man, especially in the last two years. I called the realtor and gave him information on my propane account just in case it was needed. The tank would be half full when I left. I rented the tank, so the new owners would have to contact the company. I also put the information in the cardboard box. I started dumping keys, gate openers and other things in the new owner box as I thought about them. The next item was the refrigerator. There wasn't much left in it, but the list made sure I had an eye on the frozen shrimp again. For the next two weeks I would live on oatmeal, grits, eggs and some expensive pre-packaged salads from the store. I wish there was beer, but my blood sugar made drinking beer impossible.

My suitcase was actually my flight bag I had used many times in the past. It still had a frilly pink, orange and red ball of yarn that my wife had made for me so I could easily pick it out in the luggage claim area. I laugh every time I see it as it was an old friend as I visited many places around the world. I wondered if anyone had looked at the frilly thing and had wondered as well. There wasn't much to start packing as most of my clothing was packed away at our new home. Laughing, my thought was that it would mostly contain dirty clothes.

All of this packing and following a list was starting to make me nervous as things around where I lived were starting to heat up. In the county's surrounding me were millions of unemployed people. For the past three years they had come across the Texas border by the millions. They were looking for a better life which I can understand but little did they know that north was the wrong direction. The influx was essentially killing the country as it did not have the infrastructure or money to take care of all of them. Soon Texas would look like the place they were escaping from. Crime had increased as the numbers grew. I packed a weapon no matter where I went. Tent cities were breaking out everywhere and some counties tried to clean them up, but had mixed results as there were no places for them to go. I was glad that I was soon to leave this area as it seemed to be run by the worst of worst politicians. The sheriff's department in my county wasn't even investigating small break-ins and trespassing which made me even more nervous. It seems they were overwhelmed as there were thousands of calls. Lock up your house they told people. I was sure at some point that all of the law enforcement personnel would not show up for work and go home to protect their families.

That’s when the free for all would start and I didn’t want to be here.

Glancing at my list, I decided that it was time to work on the radios. Being a ham radio operator for 68 years made that a simple task. I had programmed them to frequencies that I would communicate with my family as I approached our new location. All I had to do was charge them up and make sure they were topped off. One of the radios would be used to monitor repeaters during my travels. The CB radio which just plugged into the cigarette lighter socket was for monitoring what was happening on the roads. I hated the antenna which was large and heavy and stuck out really high on my van. The UHF antenna was shorter, lighter and easy to place. At that Point I decided I needed another box which I called the radio box. In that box along with the radios, would go all the batteries I would purchase. I made a note to go to a place that sold all types of batteries at bulk prices. Also into that box would go the solar battery charger / USB /LED Light. This was actually a backup, but if necessary could be used to charge my UHF radios and my cell phone.

I drove myself almost silly checking my tracking number every day and multiple times. I even checked the weather in places it passed through. From the tracking information, the FedEx truck was coming from a city in the north. Its final destination was to be a FedEx facility in a small town about 15 miles from me.  Checking and rechecking I could finally smile when I read “Out for Delivery”.  As I am out in the country, I suspected that the truck would arrive late in the day. I kept the gate to the farm open and I made sure that I could see the gate from where I was sitting in the house. I was right, finally the most beautiful FedEx truck in the world turned into and through the gate. I motioned for the truck to follow me back to the Barn where I would help unload. After signing for the delivery and waving to the truck driver, I closed the gate and checked out my order more completely. Everything looked good and undamaged. Closing the door to what we called a barn but was actually a large work place, I headed back to the house to check another item off my list. One load off my mind I thought, but there were other things to consider and enough for today as I am one day closer to the escape. I never got to the list as that would be for in the morning.

Now was the time for that shrimp I had been thinking about. I loved sea food, and just the thought made me remember the many fishing trips I made with my father. We spent many days living on some of the small islands in the bays off the Texas coast. Red fish, Trout, Croakers, Flounder and shrimp purchased off boats made for some good times and deep memories.

Funny I thought, this may be the last shrimp I will ever eat.
